This Week's Science Class

Dear Parents,

For this week’s Science Class on Wednesday, January 23, we will have a fun activity related to clothes and the four seasons! I would like to ask parents to prepare and bring a few different clothes from different seasons. For the activity, we will bring all the clothes together, and I will ask students to dress themselves for different types of weather! For example, what should you wear when it is rainy? What should you wear when it is very hot?

2 or 3 clothes from each student will be enough, and more would be great! Shorts, hat, t-shirt, raincoat, and a sweater are some ideas. I will bring a few items as well.

Thank you very much!

Reading Videos: Weather and Seasons

Watermelon Class was already familiar with weather vocabulary (we talk about it everyday in Circle Time), but this month, we learned more, such as "partly cloudy" and "stormy". We also talk about yesterday's and tomorrow's weather. Everyday, our Little Teacher can introduce the weather from three days.

Yesterday was cloudy.
Today is sunny.
Tomorrow will be partly cloudy.

In this theme, we also learned about the four seasons, and what the weather is like in each season. We connect the seasons with something Watermelon Class is familiar with: the five senses. What do you see, hear, smell, eat, and touch in each season?

I see flowers in spring.
I eat ice cream in summer.
I hear a ghost in fall.
I smell hot pot in winter.

In the following videos, students read both the weather and seasons charts for Mommy and Daddy. For the seasons, students built their own sentences, so everyone is unique! Enjoy~
